Lead Photographer

Columbus College of Art & Design is hiring a Lead Photographer

The Lead Photographer will work within Marketing and Communications and report to the Student Agency Manager. They will oversee all photography needs and some video needs and serve as the lead documentarian for the college.

Specific duties include:

• Coordinate photographic and video assignment and production activities
• Communicate with faculty and staff as needed for shoots
• Manage and serve as principle source of information on photo and video equipment
• Coordinate photographic and video assignments with student freelance photographers, and Student Agency videographers as needed
• Execute a large variety of photography and videography styles, to include event, studio, portrait, and editorial imagery for the college's internal clients
• Oversee editing and cataloging of images
• Create images to be featured in print and digital marketing pieces for the college
• Photograph student life on campus
• Coordinate shooting of campus facilities, architectural elements, and classroom sessions to maintain a current photo database of general images of campus, faculty, and staff
• Collaborate with Student Agency graphic designers to develop concepts for photo shoots in support of print and digital projects
• Provide daily feature photography and captions to be used in social media
• Some assignments, including alumni and student events in the community, may require availability on nights and weekends, as well as travel
• Provide visual feedback and management to Student Agency video team to ensure that video projects are created on time
• Provide regular content related to the college for use on social media
• Assist Digital Specialist in posting in-the-moment content to the college's social media channels
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor Degree in Photojournalism or Photography required

At least two (2) years of professional photography experience required

Experience with Adobe products, including Premiere and After Effects required

Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

Knowledge of the Windows environment

Strong background in digital photography, news photography, photo editing, and portraiture

Ability to work with digital image files

Knowledge of production process for publishing and printing

Ability to think creatively and translate ideas into photography

Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail, within stated deadlines

Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work situations

Extremely organized and has experience with Meta Data and tagging

Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed

Required attendance at multiple events to include end of year programming (such as the CCAD Fashion Show) and Commencement

Knowledge of resizing images for web, social media, and for designers
