Systems Engineer I

CCAD merged its library and computing organizations in 2020 to form the Library and Information Technology department. We focus on strengthening natural areas of collaboration in our efforts to provide leadership, resources, and expertise that empower CCAD's diverse students to unleash their creative power to shape culture and commerce. SUMMARY

The Systems Engineer I will be responsible for the day to day systems administration of the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Jamf Apple device management. This role has the primary responsibility to maintain and optimize operating system images for both Microsoft and Apple devices. They will support a Microsoft Entra ID environment along with Google G-Suite products. This role will also assign help desk tickets and provide tier 3 support to the help desk team. The System Engineer I will maintain the life cycle for all campus computers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversees and maintains optimal function of the SCCM and Jamf management systems, which may include customization, development, and maintenance to applications and policies.
  • Provides technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to various system users.
  • Collaborates with senior IT leadership and IT staff to identify system improvements and enhancements; recommends and implements solutions.
  • Manages permissions, access, personalization, and similar system operations and settings for SCCM and Jamf management systems.
  • Communicates, and collaborates with IT staff on system administration issues.
  • Creates all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for various SCCM and Jamf functions.
  • Ensures system compliance with data security and privacy requirements.
  • POC for assignment of HR compliance training modules
  • Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in SCCM and Jamf management systems, vendors, and technology.
  • Automate processes with scripting: command and PowerShell.l
  • Responsible for creating, documenting and deploying Windows OS and Apple OS X images to campus computers.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware and software for Windows OS and Apple OS products.
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Ability to keep information confidential.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, or related software.
  • A basic understanding of: networking, firewall rules, DNS, Active Directory, Group Policy, file share permissions, PowerShell, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL, TCP/IP, Virus protection, VMWare virtualization, Backup software and strategies, VPN, network printing, Wifi , etc.
  • Strong background in Windows 10 and above7, Server 2016 and above
  • Experience creating Windows OS deployment images including sysprep and the Windows Imaging format (.WIM)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor's degree and three years of progressive responsibility maintaining computers in a networked environment; Four or more years of equivalent experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
  • Preferred Jamf certification, years of experience may be substituted.
  • Preferred Microsoft365 certification, years of experience may be substituted.
  • Preferred 4+ years of experience with Jamf Apple device management
  • Preferred 4+ years of experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
  • Preferred 4+ years of experience with Microsoft Active Directory/Microsoft Entra ID management
  • Preferred 4+ years of experience with managing Microsoft Server 2008 and newer
  • Preferred 2+ years of experience with Google Suite management

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
