SUMMARY

To promote a friendly and customer service oriented atmosphere and to assist in all aspects of maintaining the Supply Store.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes but are not limited to the following:

  • Assists and answers questions from the customers concerning location, price and use of merchandise
  • Totals price and tax on merchandise purchased by customer to determine bill
  • Keeps record of sales, and prepares inventory of stock
  • Stocks shelves, counters and or tables with merchandise
  • Stamps, marks, or tags price on merchandise
  • Assembles prepackaged freshmen kits
  • Unloads deliveries, and take inventory on incoming supplies
  • Prepares sales slip and accepts payment, makes change, and/or obtains credit authorization
  • Wraps or bags merchandise for customers
  • Cleans shelves, counters or tables, and sweeps & mops floor
  • Removes and records amount of cash in register at end of shift
  • Calculates sales discount to determine price
  • Assists with projects assigned by the Store Manager

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Six to twelve months related experience and/or training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. 
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
