Columbus College of Art & Design is seeking a Senior Graduate Admissions Counselor. Under the supervision of the Vice President of Enrollment Management, The Graduate Admissions Counselors is responsible for implementing recruitment strategies as they relate to undergraduate students. The position represents and presents CCAD's graduate academic programs to prospective students, parents, teachers, and counselors regionally, nationally, and internationally. They must have the ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, socioeconomic and educational levels, and skills by using a variety of interpersonal strategies to interact appropriately in situations ranging from large meetings to individual appointments.  This position is year-round and requires travel in the fall and spring as well as some evenings and weekends. The Senior Graduate Admissions Counselor must demonstrate a strong knowledge of the visual arts and design, and have a commitment to arts-based education. This position may also support the undergraduate admissions program as directed by the VPEM.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The primary contact for graduate students during the inquiry and application stage of the recruitment process. Counsels prospective graduate students and their families regarding the admissions process and opportunities at the College.
  • Contacts and follows up with all inquiries received through email, website requests, college fairs, school visits, phone, social media, etc.
  • Acts as a facilitator of communication and outreach between prospective students and Graduate Studies chairs and faculty as students apply and prepare to enroll.
  • Represents the College at graduate recruitment events on and off campus.
  • Speaks publicly to groups on and off campus about CCAD's graduate academic programs, admissions requirements, tuition, and basic financial aid information.
  • Conducts informational appointments for prospective graduate students, and coordinates with Graduate Studies chairs and faculty to set up campus tours.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key educational partners.
  • Works to complete all graduate admissions files from applicants in a timely manner. Track applicants from initial contact to attendance in classes.
  • Sends all admissions-related correspondence to applicants in a timely manner and follows up with applicants to make sure all material has been received and understood.
  • Works with the CCAD Financial Aid Office to help assist with explanation of financial aid processes.
  • Schedules visits to designated colleges, community-based organizations, companies and institutions to recruit qualified students.
  • Plans travel details associated with implementing the graduate recruitment program.
  • Tracks and submits individual travel receipts in accordance to CCAD's travel policy.
  • Works with CCAD's PDSO to ensure international graduate admitted students complete all necessary documentation to ensure they are able to attend college in the United States.
  • Works collaboratively with Graduate Studies staff and the Marketing team in the development and execution of a communication plan for graduate students.
  • Provides insight to VPEM into graduate enrollment and recruitment trends in higher education in the United States and internationally.
  • Maintains strong relationships with Graduate Studies Dean, chairs, and faculty to ensure wide-ranging understanding of academic programs and graduate student experiences.
  • Perform data analysis of graduate recruitment events to inform overall graduate outreach and recruitment strategies.
  • Generates reports to track weekly graduate enrollment statistics, as well as create ad hoc queries using CRM.
  • Coordinates with Admissions Operations to ensure timely creation and launch of Graduate Studies online application.
  • Coordinates graduate student application review process for all Graduate Studies programs.
  • Assists in developing refinements to Admissions operational processes as they relate to prospective graduate students.
  • May also participate in undergraduate or international recruitment efforts, such as:
    • Conducts undergraduate student appointments and tours.
    • Represents the College at undergraduate or international recruitment events.
    • Responsible for an undergraduate inquiry load.
    • Assists in the planning and implementation of various Admissions related events and activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

QUALIFICATIONS 

Must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed above. Additional qualifications include:

  • A valid driver's license and exemplary driving record
  • A valid passport
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Ability to set priorities that accurately reflect relative importance of duties
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to work independently within a team
  • Pro-active, creative problem solving approach
  • Position will require travel and varied working hours including some evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel;

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Master's degree required; MFA or Masters of Design preferred. 2 to 3 years of experience in higher education or a related field required.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • 2 to 3 hours of standing during college fairs/events.
  • Lifting of boxes and marketing support items.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • Typical business office work environment.
