SUMMARY

CCAD is seeking an enthusiastic and customer centric individual to work onsite to run the Retail Store Operations. The Retail Store Manager will oversee the day to day work for the students and volunteers working within the Ampersand Supply Store. The primary function of the retail store is to provide art supplies to the students and the RSM will work with faculty to ensure first year kits and class supplies reflect the needs of the campus. Additionally, the RSM will be responsible for enhancing the online presence partnering with the college's Marketing team in addition to working with external vendors to develop a product mix of apparel and novelty items that appeal to our stakeholders.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise, train and assist student employees in customer service, store maintenance and product display and promotions.
  • Develop and maintain a schedule for student employees. Provide constructive feedback and coach student employees to represent the retail store in a professional manner.
  • Review and approve student timecards for accuracy.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels consistently throughout the year, ensure stocking and ordering is accurate, and displays are constantly monitored.
  • Seek feedback from students and follow the latest trends and styles for apparel.
  • Ensure the store remains clean and presentable.
  • In conjunction with the AVP for Operations, provide input on purchasing needs and work with vendors to ensure product is ordered and available for the start of classes.
  • Greets and engages customers in a warm and welcoming manner in-person, via phone and responding to email communications.
  • Attention to detail to create attractive product displays, organize merchandise and stock, monitor and restock merchandise items being displayed.
  • Ensures student employees stock shelves, tags merchandise, prepares first year supply kits, and are trained on the POS system.
  • Develops training programs for student employees that are laser focused on providing high touch customer service and engaging with our students and stakeholders when they enter the store.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to maintain composure during high stress times or interactions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise student employees and volunteers including hiring, task assignment, check-ins, timesheets, scheduling, etc.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; or a minimum of two years' experience in retail store operations.
  • Familiar with pricing strategies and store layouts.
  • Familiar with Adobe products, Google Suite, and MS Office is a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to operate basic business software programs
  • Familiarity with operating a Point of Sale (POS) system
  • Knowledge of how to conduct inventory for auditing purposes.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


COMPENSATION

This position is full-time, exempt. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications. CCAD offers a benefits package including: vacation time, additional paid time off while the college is closed during winter break, sick time accrual, health and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, 403B retirement contribution, tuition remission, free campus parking, and free membership at the Columbus Museum of Art.
