SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Technology Architecture & Operations, the IT Systems Support Specialist is responsible for day-to-day systems administration, troubleshooting, Help Desk ticket completion, solution planning, solution implementation, software installation, as well as hardware maintenance.


Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD) recently merged its library and computing organizations to form the Library and Information Technology department. We focus on strengthening natural areas of collaboration in our efforts to provide leadership, resources and expertise that empower CCAD diverse students to unleash their creative power to shape culture and commerce. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating, documenting and deploying Windows and Apple OS images to campus computers
  • Acts as tier-two support for hardware and software issues
  • Purchases, deploys, and maintains refresh cycle for campus computers (labs, faculty & staff)
  • Routinely performs system backups and recovery.
  • Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity and plays a role in lifecycle management.
  • Contributes to CCAD's commitment to diversity and inclusiveness

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Shares oversight responsibility for operational uptime of mission critical systems and other software
  • As appropriate, participates as a support team member in key projects and strategic initiatives related to technology identification, selection, implementation, and evaluation
  • Communicates with vendors regarding software and hardware purchases and licenses
  • In collaboration with other L&IT staff, communicates infrastructure improvements, changes, and system emergencies

Tertiary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keeps abreast of new technology developments and makes recommendations for adoption
  • Represents CCAD and Library & Information Technology by attending or presenting at appropriate conferences and events
  • Participates in the life of the College by attending campus events such as gallery openings, student exhibits and invited speakers (during normal business hours)
  • Assume other duties as directed by the Director of Technology Architecture and Operations

Minimum Qualifications

  • A basic understanding of: networking, firewall rules, DNS, Active Directory, Group Policy, command line scripting, file share permissions, VBScript and PowerShell, Microsoft Office, Google G Suite, Microsoft SQL, Kerberos, TCP/IP, Virus protection, VMWare virtualization, Backup software and strategies, Certificates/PKI, VPN, network printing, Wifi , etc...
  • Experience in Windows 10 and Windows Server 2012 R2 and above
  • Experience creating Windows OS deployment images including sysprep and the Windows Imaging format (.WIM)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in Apple iOS, macOS Mojave and later
  • Experience with Casper and an understanding of systems management concepts
  • Experience creating and deploying Apple OS X and IOS images to devices
  • Experience in technology support for art and design fields

Education and/or Experience

  • A bachelor's degree and one to two years of progressive responsibility maintaining computers in a networked environment. Five or more years of equivalent experience may be substituted for degree requirement

Physical Demands:

The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, climb a ladder and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Vision abilities required in this job include close vision.


Work Environment:

A hybrid work environment (remote work with scheduled days on campus) may be considered. On campus the noise level is usually moderate.

COMPENSATION: This position is full-time, exempt. Compensation is commensurate on experience and qualifications. CCAD offers a benefits package including: vacation time, additional paid time off while the college is closed during winter break, sick time accrual, health and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, 403B retirement contribution, tuition remission, free campus parking, and free admission to the Columbus Museum of Art.
