ABOUT THE HR GENERALIST: CCAD's Human Resources Department [HR] is seeking an HR professional who enjoys fast-paced roles, can work independently with little supervision, is a critical thinker, and has the ability to multi-task to fill this role. The HR staff is a highly collaborative and cohesive team, providing a range of high-quality services for our faculty, staff, and students. Principally, the HR Generalist is responsible for the day-to-day management of HR operations, which means that they manage the administration of the policies, procedures and programs of the college.  Ideal candidates will have at least two years of human resources experience. SUMMARY: The Human Resources (HR) Representative supports the Human Resources Department by initiating and executing standardized processes across multiple (HR) functions including: general (HR) program/policy & administration; employee hiring, onboarding, termination, employee relations, FMLA, LOA, payroll, and record retention & maintenance; compensation and benefits; HRIS; and diversity initiatives.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes but is not limited to the following):

  • Supports processing new hires, transfers, and terminations. Ensures exit interviews and other administrative tasks are completed. Includes coordination of communications and compiling data & reports for review by (HR), payroll & external department managers.
  • Point of contact for employee relations
  • Facilitates employee & manager updates and changes by processing, tracking, following-up, and auditing appropriate (HR) documentation. Includes promotions, transfers, ad hoc wage/salary changes, etc.
  • Creates and coordinates HR process improvement initiatives for standardized tasks and procedures.
  • Assist with payroll processes.
  • Creates and maintains shared location of key (HR) documentation (policies, procedures, team information, etc.) for both employee and (HR)-only access.
  • Administers and tracks all leaves of absences including: FMLA, STD, and LTD.
  • Maintains & coordinates the (HR) record storage and HR record retention process across the business.
  • Partners with appropriate teams to request and distribute monthly, quarterly, annual reports for the (HR) Department and management (Open positions, Head Count, Turnover, recognition).
  • Supports company's diversity initiatives and maintains records, systems, and programs.
  • Coordinates special HR programs across CCAD community (i.e. wellness, recognition, engagement).
  • Participates on the Equity & Inclusion Committee and Employee Enrichment Team.
  • Performs other duties any other special projects as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Comprehensive and proficient computer skills with the ability to navigate complex systems, reports, and data tracking tools (Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Outlook, ADP Workforce Now, PowerCampus, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), etc.).
  • Knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.
  • Strong organization and time management skills and is comfortable working in a highly visible role.
  • Highly organized and efficient worker; skilled at multi-tasking and willing to take initiative and work independently when needed. Strong communication skills both oral and written.
  • Positive, personable, reliable, people person who enjoys working with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Must have (HR) competence and knowledge with (HR) processes.
  • General knowledge of employment laws and best practices both federal and state.
  • Able to follow directions accurately and without hesitation and willing to take initiative and work independently when needed.
  • Exhibits professional integrity and a sense of responsibility and accountability.

REQUIREMENTS and EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Minimum of 2 + years relevant experience in HR
  • Knowledge of HRIS and payroll systems preferred
  • Strong understanding of confidentiality
  • Prior experience in project management, and training will be a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the responsibilities of the Human Resources Representative's job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required in this job include close vision.

 

COMPENSATION: This position is full-time, exempt.  Compensation is commensurate on experience and qualifications. CCAD offers a benefits package including: vacation time, additional paid time off while the college is closed during winter break, sick time accrual, health and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, 403B retirement contribution, tuition remission, free campus parking, and free admission to the Columbus Museum of Art.
