Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD), awarded A Top 10 workplace from CEO Magazine, is seeking applications for the position of a full-time entry level Help Desk OperatorThis position works as a member of the Help Desk Team to deliver technical support services for CCAD faculty, staff, students, alumni and visitors. The Help Desk Team records and responds to questions and requests for assistance concerning campus technology ' including computer hardware and software, printers, network connectivity and online systems ' and provides guidance and support for end users in the use of these systems.  This position also assists in the development and oversight of student workers.

The team mission is to help end-users in a prompt, professional manner:

  • Learn how to avoid problems
  • Track, investigate, and resolve any issues that arise
  • Escalate issues that require a higher level of support, supplying all with critical information to help the next level technician address the problem
  • Provide extended support hours to serve the college community

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide first tier phone support to the CCAD customer base of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and visitors by documenting and processing requests in detail using the Help Desk ticketing software
  • Support and maintain the daily operations of the Digital Print Lab and Help Desk by taking inventory of supplies, operating and assisting others in operating desktop and large format printers, and utilizing student workers to complete tasks
  • Train and develop the skills of the student workers, and assist in managing their performance and attendance
  • Work as part of the team of Help Desk professionals and student workers responsible for supporting users of academic and administrative technologies
  • Troubleshoot various software configurations/features including Windows and Macintosh operating systems, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and other applications provided on campus 
  • Maintain IT department policies and institution security standards
  • Make recommendations for process and technical improvements
  • Provide problem-solving and analysis for assigned projects
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and potential impact on the support business
  • Contribute to the development of a knowledge base; develop and update department documentation, inventory, and maintenance records
  • Pursue ongoing professional development opportunities and certifications
  • Provide for flexibility in assigned work hours (during the same work week) in order to accomplish large projects or support users outside of normal office hours

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate Degree in computer-related field, attainment of certification, and/or related professional experience/training

  • 1 or more years' experience supporting Mac OS X, Windows XP, Windows 7 in large, managed environments
  • Ability and desire to keep skills and knowledge current in a rapidly changing field
  • Previous experience supporting audiovisual systems and working with help desk tracking software
  • Certifications that could support essential duties, possibly including:
    • A+
    • Apple
    • Microsoft
    • HDI
