Gallery Administrative Assistant and Preparator

SUMMARY

The Gallery Administrative Assistant and Preparator is a part-time role reporting to the Faculty Director of Galleries. They are responsible for assisting the Director with various types of administrative tasks. In addition, performing preparator duties for the Gallery and executing duties associated with exhibitions.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:


Administration

  • Training for Concord, Asana, SOW process, Marcom online forms.
  • Solicit info/Fill out contracts for the fall/Winter season/Marcom forms.
  • Assist with loan agreements/Insurance/ condition reports.
  • Coordinate Artist visits.
  • Assist with invoices for payment of honorariums/Preparator's contracts.
  • Organize student exhibitions.

Other duties as assigned.


Gallery Preparator

  • Safely Pack and unpack artworks.
  • Install a wide variety of artworks.
  • Recondition Gallery walls and pedestals.
  • Build Pedestals.
  • Install vinyl wall text.
  • Install video projection and sound systems.
  • Light exhibitions.
  • Help organize and clean Gallery storage.

Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Art handling experience, packing and unpacking protocols all forms of artwork.
  • Knowledge of all types of installation methods.
  • Familiarity with all relevant types of attachment.
  • Have shop skills to construct pedestals and other supports for presentation.
  • Able to Install vinyl text.
  • Experienced at Install video projection/ sound installation.
  • Understand how to Light an exhibition.
  • Familiar with a Gantry and palette jack.
  • Comfortable on ladders and on a lift 20 feet in the air.
  • Be organized and clean
  • Flexible schedule.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • BFA degree is required.
  • Experience with reconditioning walls and pedestals is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral

vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  • The pace of the work environment is moderate to fast.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.

COMPENSATION: This position is part-time, non-exempt. Compensation is commensurate on experience and qualifications. CCAD offers a benefits package including: vacation time, additional paid time off while the college is closed during winter break, sick time accrual, health and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, tuition remission, campus parking, and free admission to the Columbus Museum of Art.
