CCAD's Business Office is seeking a professional who enjoys fast-paced roles, can work independently with little supervision, is a critical thinker, and has the ability to multi-task to fill this role. The Business staff is a highly collaborative and cohesive team, providing a range of high-quality services for our faculty and staff. Principally, the financial analyst is responsible for monitoring financial operations, procedures and programs of the college. Ideal candidates will have at least 1-3 years of accounting experience.

About the Financial Analyst:

The Financial Analyst is a creative, curious, technologically savvy, and detail-oriented finance professional responsible for leading and coordinating the college's financial planning processes including the annual budget and interim forecast updates.


This role collaborates with and supports college leadership in decision-making through thoughtful financial analysis, operational reporting, and strategic assessment. The Financial Analyst supports the Chief Financial Officer in all Board of Trustees financial reporting needs. On occasion, this role may develop and deliver financial and business training programs to college staff and faculty.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities but are not limited to the following:

  • Administers the annual budget planning process, monitors financial performance, and serves as an advisor to college budget managers. Engages with the college community to drive continuous improvement in the budget planning process.
  • Collaborates with college leadership and budget managers to develop interim forecast updates on a quarterly basis.
  • Serves as administrator for the college's cloud-based financial planning tool
  • Designs and maintains the college's long-term financial planning model to support decisions on capital projects, financing needs, and other strategic decisions.
  • Supports the college's project and capital planning committee through the development of business plans and financial assessment.
  • Works with academic leadership to analyze programs and ensure resources are allocated in alignment with student outcomes and CCAD's strategic plan.
  • Develops reports and communicates relevant information to stakeholders for a variety of needs including grant reporting, demand planning, spend analysis, and other ad-hoc analytical needs.
  • Provides routine accounting support during month-end and annual close, including account reconciliations and/or journal entries, chart of accounts maintenance, and .
  • Assists in identifying and implementing process improvement ideas and leveraging technology in the college's business affairs.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) including aspects that are specific to non-profit organizations.
  • Thorough understanding of data analysis, financial concepts, and ability to draw conclusions from analysis and make recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to effectively explain financial issues to a diverse audience.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage projects.
  • Ability to develop and present training programs and/or workshops.
  • Curiosity, commitment to continuous learning and development.

Education and/or Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related fields required. 1-3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified is desired. A combination of equivalent experience and a relevant Associate's degree will be considered.
  • Experience with accounting and finance ERP platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics is beneficial, but not required.

Physical Demands

  • The employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

COMPENSATION: This position is full-time, exempt. Compensation is commensurate on experience and qualifications. CCAD offers a benefits package including: vacation time, additional paid time off while the college is closed during winter break, sick time accrual, health and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, 403B retirement contribution, tuition remission, free campus parking, and free admission to the Columbus Museum of Art.
