ABOUT THIS NEW ROLE:

This newly envisioned role reporting to and supporting the Vice President for Marketing & Communications will manage an experienced digital marketing team. The Director of Marketing will execute comprehensive marketing plans and programs to support enrollment, elevate the CCAD brand, and advertise CCAD's public programming.

The Director of Marketing will be responsible for CCAD's websites, continually improving the online user experience to drive admissions and mirror the college's Core Values (Respect, Positivity, Inspiration, & Accountability) and strategic goals, including ensuring that Intentional Inclusivity (and DEI initiatives) and Creative Collaboration are at the core of our brand. In addition, the Director of Marketing will be a strong partner to other key stakeholders of the Marketing & Communications team, in particular, collaborating with the Director of Communications and the Art Director.

The best candidate is both a strategic thinker and an action-oriented professional who can help set goals of the digital marketing team, implement tactics, manage timelines and workflow, and supervise a number of marketing priorities. The ideal candidate has experience in marketing with website development and maintenance, advertising planning, managing a team and vendor management, outward reporting, and budget management.

SUMMARY

Reporting to and supporting the Vice President for Marketing & Communications, the Director of Communications will manage an experienced digital marketing team that is responsible for social media, video, email marketing, and website content strategy. The Director of Marketing will execute comprehensive marketing plans and programs to support enrollment, elevate the CCAD brand, and advertise CCAD's public programming, including Continuing & Professional Studies, the CCAD Fashion Show, the CCAD Art Fair, and more.

The Director of Marketing will be responsible for CCAD's websites, continually improving the online user experience to drive admissions and mirror the college's Core Values (Respect, Positivity, Inspiration, & Accountability) and strategic goals, including ensuring that Intentional Inclusivity (and DEI initiatives) and Creative Collaboration are at the core of our brand. In addition, the Director of Marketing will be a strong partner to other key stakeholders of the Marketing & Communications team, in particular, collaborating with the Director of Communications and the Art Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

Institutional Marketing Support

  • Leads strategy in developing and implementing marketing plans for advertising and CCAD's websites.
  • Provides reports and high level marketing summaries to the Vice President for Marketing & Communications.
  • Sets goals for the digital marketing team.
  • Works alongside Enrollment Management to determine ways to grow top of funnel efforts and increase conversion rates through various advertising and website initiatives and improvements.
  • Uses project management tools and principles to ensure that all website and marketing plans and deliverables are met in a timely manner, communicating changes to project timelines, scope, and budget as needed while looking for operational efficiencies.
  • Creates process documentation including Gantt charts, roles and responsibilities, progress updates, and summarizes results and lessons learned.
  • Detects issues'and industry best practices'as they emerge and addresses them directly.
  • Leads consumer research efforts including surveys and user testing.
  • Manages agency providers, consultants, freelancers and other suppliers, including contract negotiation and management.
  • Develops out-of-the-box marketing ideas to ensure the long-term success of the institution.
  • Ensures the CCAD brand is intentionally inclusive and represents and serves the wide diversity of audiences connected with CCAD.

Marketing & Advertising

  • Builds and maintains processes that ensure that CCAD's advertising initiatives are a priority for the Marketing & Communications team, and that we can be nimble and quickly respond to data and trends for all of our Search Engine Marketing (SEM) needs.
  • Ensures that the skills and expertise of the Marketing & Communications team are consulted for advertising content, copy, strategic communications priorities, and modality.
  • Negotiates with media and agency partners to guarantee advantageous contracts, manages the relationships, and defines goals for them.
  • Participates in annual budget planning, manages the tracking of all marketing expenses, and maintains the advertising budget.
  • Packages and presents advertising efforts and results for sharing within CCAD and to the Board of Trustees.
  • Uses data to track return on investment (ROI) of marketing activities to improve spending effectiveness focused on increasing media reach, frequency, and prime placement.
  • Assists with event and display implementation with community partner events.

Website & Enrollment Strategy

  • Oversees the operation of all of CCAD's websites, providing regular analytics reviews, outcomes, and strategy briefs for sharing with Senior Cabinet and external stakeholders.
  • Works with the Vice President for Marketing & Communications to forecast and plan for web projects, so that institutional priorities can be set with constituents.
  • Develops and manages a strategy and timeline for high-traffic website pages, ensuring that important areas of the website will be frequently updated.
  • Researches, prioritizes, and implements ways to better optimize the user experience and conversion rates for CCAD's websites and works to continually improve the online user experience to drive admissions and elevate CCAD's brand.
  • Develops and monitors goal completions, ADA accessibility, and search engine optimization (SEO), and ensures that CCAD's websites are optimized for all devices.
  • Requests and approves new features and development changes from implementation to production for multiple websites and manages needs around planned website build processes, microsites, and software updates.
  • With the support of the Content Marketing Coordinator, prioritizes and tracks progress of issues that affect website quality and functionality, and assists in implementing website changes when needed.
  • In conjunction with the Content Marketing Coordinator, researches and manages strategic marketing relationships with third party vendors to enhance the enrollment pipeline for CCAD.
  • Assist with other duties and projects as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises two full-time employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with CCAD's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; motivating and incentivizing strong performance; and addressing performance improvement needs.

  • Leads, guides, and directs, a professional digital marketing team: our Content Marketing Coordinator and our Digital Analyst.
  • Manages and provides clear instructions for the digital marketing team to ensure that all new web and digital related projects are completed in a timely manner.
  • Manages freelancers and agencies that work with CCAD's websites and marketing strategies.
  • Develops and provides personal growth opportunities for direct reports.
  • Ensures that the digital marketing team meets identified goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Experience managing a website including editing the site with content management systems and tracking performance with Google Analytics.
  • Experience in managing a variety of technology, advertising and service providers.
  • Experience in managing a marketing budget.
  • Demonstrated experience in decision making, direct communication, collaboration, problem-solving skills, timeliness, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, and presentation.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Exceptional skills in Marketing leadership and brand strategic thinking.
  • Proven experience in operating in high stress situations while meeting tight deadlines.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related fields is required; Master's in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field is preferable.
  • Experience in higher education is a plus.
  • Minimum of three years of people management experience with supervisory responsibilities, including leading employees, colleagues, and outside agencies.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a Brand or Product manager working on a variety of assignments.
  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination or project management in a creative environment. Basic knowledge of project management and/or website development methodologies.
  • Proven experience building, managing, and implementing advertising strategies.
  • Proven experience with strategic thinking, including developing and executing an idea or campaign.

COMPENSATION: This position is full-time, exempt. Compensation is commensurate on experience and qualifications. CCAD offers a benefits package including: vacation time, additional paid time off while the college is closed during winter break, sick time accrual, health and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, 403B retirement contribution, tuition remission, free campus parking, and free admission to the Columbus Museum of Art.
