Dean of Graduate Studies

 


Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD) is seeking a visionary leader for its two graduate programs,
Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts: New Projects and Master of Design in Integrative Design. The Dean will
provide the strategic leadership to grow the programs and in support of CCAD's Strategic Plan work
collaboratively with the graduate chairs and CCAD faculty to develop new programs. In addition, the Dean will
oversee the college's renowned Beeler Gallery, a premier exhibition center of contemporary art, and
MindMarket, a collaborative space that connects the college with the private sector, government, non-profit
and for-profit industries.


CCAD is looking for an entrepreneurially-minded, creative professional who can manage the connections and
promote innovation between graduate studies, real world projects with external partners, and exhibition
programming. In addition, the Dean of Graduate Studies provides oversight in the graduate admissions and
assessment of programs. Experience in managing a gallery or an incubator space a plus.


The successful candidate demonstrates substantive knowledge, enthusiasm, and success in supporting faculty
and students, and fostering diversity in the graduate curriculum, faculty and programming. Candidates for
CCAD's Dean of Graduate Studies should have a distinguished record of professional activity and significant
experience in higher education with demonstrable administrative and leadership skills. Excellent verbal,
written, interpersonal, and communication skills as well as the highest standards of personal and academic
integrity are required. The Dean would be expected to remain engaged in active teaching in the classroom,
workshops or lectures.


In Practice or Research: We seek a candidate who is actively engaged in contemporary art and design worlds in business, education and/or scholarship with a reputation in design and education communities through
publications or presentations in national and international venues.


In Teaching: We are seeking a candidate who has experience teaching at the graduate level, has experience
with quality assessment, and who understands how to strengthen the connections between undergraduate and
graduate students and curricula.


In Service: We are seeking a candidate, who can engage faculty, students, staff, and alumni in shaping the
culture and student experience in Graduate studies, and who can expand collaborative relationships with
external partners. We are seeking a candidate who has a demonstrated commitment to diversity in all its
forms and an ability/desire to implement new strategies to pursue equity and excellence.

Qualifications: A terminal degree in an appropriate field; established record of professional accomplishments
as documented by publications, presentations, and/or executed projects, and at least 5 years of teaching
experience, including leadership in higher education is required.
