CCAD's Business Office is seeking an experienced accounts payable and accounting professional to fill the role of Associate Accountant. Ideal candidates have at least 1+ years of relevant experience and can work independently with little supervision, are a critical thinker, can multitask effectively, and are committed to providing students excellent customer service. The Associate Accountant is a key member of the Business Office and will work alongside a team of professionals committed to the mission of the college, working together in a collaborative fashion, and supporting CCAD's community of faculty, staff, and students.


SUMMARY The Associate Accountant is responsible for accounts payable, fixed asset accounting, travel and entertainment expense program management, supplier contract administration, and special projects as assigned. The Associate Accountant supports the month-end financial close process, annual financial statement audit, preparation and distribution of monthly departmental financial reports, and assists in the annual budget and long-term planning process for the Columbus College of Art & Design..


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes but are not limited to the following:

Accounts Payable

  • Ownership of Accounts Payable workflows including invoice processing, three-way matching of invoices to purchase orders and goods/services receipt, and issuing payments to suppliers.
  • Process improvements, including working with suppliers to increase ACH and electronic invoicing participation.
  • Process tax-exempt forms, credit applications and student refunds

Travel and Entertainment Expense Program Management

  • Monthly credit card expense processing, including categorization of expenses and ensuring proper expense report approval and receipts are provided.
  • Periodic audit of expenses for compliance with CCAD policies

Supplier Profile and Data

  • Supplier record maintenance and setup, including W-9 and 1099 forms.
  • Support CCAD's contract management processes including matching purchase orders and invoices to contractually agreed terms.

Fixed Asset Accounting

  • Maintain CCAD's fixed asset roster and depreciation schedule. Work with CCAD's Facilities and IT departments to correctly capture and classify capital expenditures.
  • Support CCAD's ongoing prioritization and monitoring of capital expenditure and IT requests.

Other Duties

  • Assist CCAD departments with research, corrections or analysis in regards to their fiscal performance as needed
  • Preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and other routine accounting functions as needed.
  • Provide CCAD community training on policies and new financial software tools as needed.
  • Support CCAD's project management needs specific to Business Office initiatives

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMPENSATION: This position is full-time, exempt. Compensation is commensurate on experience and qualifications. CCAD offers a benefits package including: vacation time, additional paid time off while the college is closed during winter break, sick time accrual, health and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, 403B retirement contribution, tuition remission, free campus parking, and free admission to the Columbus Museum of Art.
