Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Admissions, Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD) seeks to hire an Assistant Director of Admissions.


This role is responsible for implementing recruitment strategies as they relate to undergraduate students, specifically those with interest in transferring from another higher education institution or internationally. They represent and present CCAD's academic programs to prospective students, parents, teachers and counselors regionally, nationally, and internationally. They must have the ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, socioeconomic and educational levels and skills by using a variety of interpersonal strategies to interact appropriately in situations ranging from large meetings or presentations to individual appointments. The individual in this role will need to think creatively and be comfortable participating in all aspects of the recruitment process, including but not limited to the campus tour program, transfer information sessions (in-person and virtual), application review, and on-campus events.


This role also serves as part of the office leadership, assisting the Director with strategic planning and support of daily office functions in the absence of the Director. This role will be tasked to help develop and implement strategy to grow both international and transfer enrollment at the college.


We also seek a candidate with strong knowledge of the visual arts, a commitment to arts-based education, commitment to the highest ideals of customer service satisfaction, and familiarity with research and analysis of data relevant to admission and enrollment of this pool.


In addition, this role serves as the institution's PDSO (Principal Designated School Official) and is responsible for updating and maintaining international student records in SEVIS. Some common issues that incoming and currently attending students may have questions about include but are not limited to: working in the United States, applying for a SSN, transferring to/from this institution, traveling outside of the United States, attaining documentation for internships and employment opportunities..


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes but are not limited to the following:

  • Represents the College at recruitment events (on campus, off campus, and virtually) including but not limited to National Portfolio Days, College Days, First Saturdays, Open Houses, Admitted Students Day, and college fairs at high schools/ community colleges.
  • Represents the quality and scope of an arts education at CCAD to prospective students, parents, and the general public.
  • Speaks publicly to groups and individuals (on campus, off campus, and virtually) to present CCAD's academic programs, admissions requirements, tuition and basic financial aid information.
  • Serves as the primary contact for prospective transfer and international students; counseling said students and families on the admissions process and the opportunities that the College presents.
  • Independently develops and maintains relationships with art educators/ faculty, relevant high school counselors, community colleges, transfer counselors and others working with them to schedule visits (in person and virtually) to relevant high schools, community colleges, and community-based organizations. Particular emphasis is placed on Articulation Agreement partners and keeping them updated on CCAD policies and procedures including our articulation point person.
  • Collaborates closely with CCAD's Academic Leadership to develop and expand articulation agreements and partnerships
  • Serves as the primary contact for international student recruitment agencies and consultants
  • Responsible for achieving assigned enrollment goals via the development of relationships with students and the independent management of transfer and international prospect generation, application development and enrollment through various recruitment strategies tracking applicants from initial contact through admissions to attendance.
  • Contacts and follows up with all inquiries received from the internet, college fairs, school visits, telephone/email, social media, etc.
  • Sends all admission related correspondence to applicants in a timely manner and follows up with applicants to make sure all material has been received and understood.
  • Participates in the review of applicant files to determine eligibility for admission and scholarship consulting with the Director of Admissions and Vice President for Enrollment Management as needed.
  • Conducts appointments and on occasion, campus tours (on campus and virtually) for prospective students, visitors, and group tours.
  • Works with the CCAD Financial Aid Office to help assist with the awarding of scholarship funds and to explain financial aid processes.
  • Tracks and submits individual expense reports and receipts in accordance to CCAD's travel and expense policies.
  • Plans travel details associated with implementing a relevant recruitment program.
  • Performs an active role in the planning and implementation of various Admissions related events and activities (on campus, off campus, and virtual). There is the possibility of international travel.
  • Assist the communications and web updates team with keeping all transfer and international related admissions information up to date and accurate on our webpage.
  • Supports the Director of Admissions by serving as a mentor and resource for newer Admissions Counselors
  • Attends other undergraduate off campus recruitment-related events on an as needed basis.
  • Attends all admission staff meetings and is responsible for reporting on assigned territory and duties.
  • Keeps current on trends in higher education, college wide developments, and new program opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed above. Additional qualifications include:

  • A valid driver's license
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and public speaking skills among various forums.
  • Time management skills and ability to set priorities that accurately reflect relative importance of duties
  • Ability to work independently within a team in a fast-paced office environment
  • Ability to be proactive, creative, and have a problem solving approach.
  • This position will require travel and varied working hours including some evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in the Google Suite
  • Experience working with CRM, SIS, data/database reporting and analysis, with experience with Slate and Colleague preferred.
  • Must be willing to step beyond prescribed role as needed to support the efforts of the admissions team in pursuit of its goals.
  • Must be flexible and able to work unconventional hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed particularly in Fall and Spring when the majority of travel and events take place.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 2+ years of experience in college admissions or related field/experiences.
  • 2+ years of experience with event programming leadership, development and implementation, or related planning experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in decision-making and direct implementation of result-oriented yield enhancement strategies.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually normal.
  • Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.

COMPENSATION

This position is full-time, exempt. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
