Science for Artists / Physics - Adjunct Instructor

The Columbus College of Art & Design [CCAD] is seeking a Part Time Adjunct Instructor for our Science & Social Science Department to teach Scientific Applications for the Artist and/or Physics & its Applications beginning in the SPRING 2020 semester.

Course Details:

Science for Artists explores the physical and biological sciences in relation to areas of interest for artists and designers. Assignments include 4 labs, 4 exams, and 4 projects, with topics ranging from foundational principles to sensation, the physics of light and color, analysis of pseudo-science, and chemical reactions, formulas, and hazards in art and design. This course is designed for helping students of all levels, especially in the first and second year, strengthen communication, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills

Physics & Its Applications explores the nature and properties of matter and energy through lectures, labs, and discussions. Students at a range of levels use observation and experimentation to gain an understanding of scientific laws and principles. Projects and assignments include 4 exams, 4 labs, and 4 projects that are designed to help students develop both communication and empirical analysis skills. Students should leave the course with an understanding of applicable physics' role in design and of the world in which we live.

An advanced degree or enrollment in a graduate program in science or physics is required.

Previous teaching experience preferred.
