The Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD) is seeking a Part-Time Adjunct Instructor for our Writing, Literature and Philosophy Department to teach Introduction to Philosophy. This position is for the Fall 2025 semester. Introduction to Philosophy is a required course for most CCAD students. It explores philosophical and critical thinking through readings of various philosophers' works and dialogue on topics such as existence, knowledge, ethics, and truth. Students will be expected to identify and interpret evidence that will lead to well-grounded philosophical conclusions, use expository writing as a tool for both critical analysis and presentation, engage in informed dialogue with their peers, and apply tenets of philosophical thinking to their own practice. Projects typically focus on the ability to understand, articulate, and argue ideas through exercises in critical thinking, reading, writing, discussions, hermeneutical exercises, reflective essays, tests, and quizzes.
Position: Adjunct Instructor, part-time
Qualifications: A graduate degree in Philosophy or a related discipline is required with previous teaching experience preferred. Applicants outside of philosophy in social sciences, humanities and interdisciplinary studies who have a background in theory, aesthetics or the history of ideas are highly encouraged to apply. .
