Adjunct Instructor, History of Industrial and Interior Design

The Columbus College of Art & Design [CCAD] is seeking a Part Time Adjunct Instructor for our History of Art & Visual Culture department to teach an integrated Introduction to the History of Industrial and Interior Design beginning in the FALL 2022 semester.

Course Details: This is team-taught, integrated class between industrial and interior design and design history. It will introduce first year students to the discipline of industrial and interior design through a combination of studio-based projects as well as lectures and discussions on the history of the disciplines. This overview of industrial and interior design will expose students to the diverse needs and experiences of users, the ethical, social, cultural, and political issues facing designers today, as well as provide an overview of a variety of project types and professional interests designers may have in the professional field. Each studio project will integrate concepts covered by examples in the history lessons. The course engages lecture, discussion, projects, activities of critical inquiry, observation, analysis, research, and writing to hone aesthetic vocabulary and communication skills.

Position: Adjunct Instructor, part-time

Qualifications: A Masters degree in art or design history is required and previous teaching experience preferred.
